[Sunday Morning Adult Catechisis]
Current Series:
6 Weeks With Thomas Aquinas
-Presented by -
Dr. Murray Daw
Synopsis:
Come spend six Sundays with St. Thomas Aquinas. Learn why the Church calls Aquinas the Angelic Doctor. Find out why virtually all modern popes (including Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI) hold up Aquinas as a model of reason and faith. Understand his five proofs for the existence of God, and why it is unreasonable NOT to believe in God. Pray some of his beautiful prayers, which the Church holds dear. Discover how science and faith are compatible. (This presentation is revised and expanded from last year.)
Sunday Morning Adult Catechesis (SMAC) takes place in Fr. Friend Hall from 9:40 – 10:50 coinciding with the Pre-K through 5th grade Religious Education schedule, which can be found in the Parish Master Calendar.
Grab a cup of Dave's fresh brewed coffee and take part in the lectures and discussions presented by SJCCS Department of Christian Formation. All participants are invited to contribute to a potluck breakfast and take advantage of this delightful opportunity for fellowship between the Masses.
About past series:
Dr. Murray Daw presented "4 Sundays With Thomas Aquinas" where we learned why the Church calls Aquinas the Angelic Doctor and found out why virtually all moder popes (including PJPII and Pope Benedict XVI) hold up Aquinas as a model of reason. St. Thomas' five proofs for the existence of God, and why it unreasonable NOT to believe in God, as well as how science and faith are compatible were discussed.
Dexter Brown and Michael Stein have hosted “Apologetics for Beginners” providing sound defenses of the Catholic faith on weighty topics like transubstantiation and apostolic succession and “The Shadow Church: Exposing lies and falsehoods in modern Catholic thought.”
Michael Kirk’s series “A Walk through the Bible” gave participants a humorous and insightful look into the book of Genesis, and Rev. Hayden Vaverek shared his insight on Grace and the Sacraments and how to live the Christian life.
We are always on the lookout for new topics and new presenters. If you have a great idea and want to try your hand at SMAC, please contact Br. Henry in the parish office.
